Job Description

Position Title: Chief Scientific Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Onsite – Greater Boston Area

Position Summary:

My client are seeking a visionary Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead the scientific direction and research strategy for an innovative biotechnology company focused on stem cell-based therapies. This role will be instrumental in advancing the development of a pioneering platform designed to deliver accessible, off-the-shelf, HLA-compatible blood stem cell treatments.

The CSO will oversee all scientific functions, including research and development, while playing a key role in shaping company strategy and driving scientific innovation. This is a unique opportunity to lead transformative work in regenerative medicine and contribute to the future of cell therapy within a highly collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all scientific and research functions within the organization
  • Develop and execute the company’s scientific strategy
  • Set priorities and performance goals aligned with the broader mission
  • Oversee the development of new technologies and therapeutic approaches
  • Stay current with scientific and industry trends to guide innovation
  • Advise senior leadership on scientific matters and contribute to key decisions
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage scientific and research staff
  • Coordinate and align internal and external research efforts
  • Represent the organization in public forums and partnerships as needed
  • Travel for scientific collaboration and executive meetings

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership with excellent communication and strategic thinking skills
  • 15+ years of research, managerial, and industry experience, including 4+ years in cell therapy
  • Strong background in stem cell technologies and therapeutic development
  • Demonstrated track record of research publication, fundraising, and/or grant writing
  • Experience supporting investor relations or scientific presentations in a corporate setting
