Meet the company:

Our client, a growing high-net-worth family office is seeking an experienced senior compliance and accounting professional to join their strong accounting team. This firm is fast-paced and well established, and you would be at the forefront of a unique industry.

About the role and your Impact:

This role will own the cost management function for the organization, working in close partnership with all departments across the firm to drive efficient resource utilization and improve profitability. You will collect, analyze, and report on all types of expense related financial data related to the business, with a focus on Construction projects, in addition to working in tandem with the accounting team members on the budgeting process. The ideal candidate will have strong forensic accounting and analytical skills, and experience managing outside consultants as well as working closely with both internal and external counsel.

This role will be based in Manhattan, and is fully in-office.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Control:

  • Lead cost control related forensic accounting activities and projects, including detailed analysis of costs and development of analysis tools necessary to support cost control.
  • Internal Communication across all departments of the family office to support cost containment and foster accountability and accuracy. External Communication with various vendors.
  • Collaborate with department heads to prepare budgets, forecast future financial trends, and assist in setting cost objectives, particularly in the real estate development and construction sectors.
  • Prepare cost analysis reports, including cost breakdowns and trends, and present findings to management and legal teams.
  • Perform variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs and investigate discrepancies.
  • Oversee the allocation of costs to different departments, or development projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years in a public accounting or forensic accounting firm, or a mix of public/private with forensic litigation case experience.
  • Construction related industry experience or familiarity with this area is ideal.
  • Previous experience working within a family office, or experience working with high-net-worth individuals is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
