Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Kit Assembly Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining master production schedules to align with shipping goals, customer requirements, and inventory targets while ensuring quality and accuracy. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to coordinate kit assembly schedules, balances demand and supply to address fluctuations, and ensures timely planning to meet delivery and financial objectives. This position requires independent judgment to handle complex tasks and implement effective strategies, driving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for achieving objectives while exhibiting Storm Industries' Core Values.

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular Functions include:

  • Manages daily kitting and assembly activities , ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and accuracy by developing effective daily and weekly production plans that align with customer and satellite branch requirements.

  • Oversees kitting operations , ensuring accurate component selection, assembly sequencing, and timely manufacturing order (MO) releases to meet production and shipping deadlines.

  • Analyzes and documents kitting and warehouse processes through observation, employee feedback, and collaboration, leveraging SOPs and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance efficiency.

  • Designs layouts, processes, and procedures to optimize kitting workflows, storage utilization, and material flow, considering inventory levels, TAKT/cycle times, and overall facility efficiency.

  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and Demand Planning to address kitting-related inventory challenges and maintain smooth operations.

  • Identifies and implements process improvements in kitting and assembly using Lean, Six Sigma, and Takt Time methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Monitors kitting shortages and material flow , generating reports to proactively resolve bottlenecks and optimize outcomes.

  • Ensures adherence to quality standards in all kitting and assembly processes, maintaining compliance with safety regulations and ISO requirements.

  • Regular attendance at the worksite is essential to perform this role effectively.

  • Other duties as required.

Periodic Functions include:

  • Performs kitting and assembly simulations by analyzing varying capacity rates, manpower, and demand levels to optimize operations.
  • Gains expertise in demand planning functions and serve as a backup for the Senior Demand Planner when needed.
  • Manages miscellaneous projects as required to support organizational goals and priorities.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight to employees in kitting and assembly areas , ensuring smooth operations, adherence to quality standards, and continuous process improvements.
  • Manages kitting team performance , including attendance, efficiency, and order accuracy, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Outlines clear performance objectives and ensure their thorough and timely completion while recommending and supporting employee development programs.
  • Partners with Human Resources on employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.

Professional/Technical Training and Skills include:

  • Training and/or experience in MRP software such as Great Plains preferable.
  • Manufacturing background in TAKT TIME calculation, Lean Enterprise, Constraint Management to be used in warehouse assembly operations.
  • Experience leading Production Scheduling (Planning/Analyzing/Goal Setting/Takt Time/Reporting).
  • Ability to use Microsoft software including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Leadership training an asset.
