Job Description

The New Commercial Construction Superintendent is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing field operations, managing crews, enhancing training programs and ensuring the successful execution of commercial construction projects. This position entails site visits, planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of fieldwork while upholding unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Your expertise as a subject matter expert in the construction industry and hands-on experience in the field will be instrumental in our success. This role willcollaborate closely with project managers, field superintendents, and other trade representatives to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of client satisfaction. To succeed in this position, the candidate should be self-motivated, able to travel extensively, flexible with changing schedules, and be a team player.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

Onsite

  • Visit job sites across California to complete audits and training
  • Provide direction to foreman and assist foreman run crew
  • Responsible for maintaining safe jobsites and ensuring crew is adhering to safety training
  • Conduct training and development for technicians
  • Responsible for quality control management on site
  • Communicate and coordinate with superintendents and other trades in the field
  • Build unity and motivation among and between crews

Administration

  • Maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Review weekly technician timesheets and schedule timesheet audits
  • Accurately produce and submit:
  • As Builts including RFI's and Logs, Field Status Reports and Safety Incident reports
  • Participate in performance reviews and disciplinary meetings

Project Planning

  • Serve as liaison between office and field staff, including attending field and office meetings
  • Act as a problem solver -- resolve problems as they arise regarding plans or specifications, conflicts with the superintendent, engineer, and other trades
  • Document all corrections, changes and requests and ensure all parties are made aware
  • Identify and address scope changes or potential risks, communicate with Project Manager to ensure proper documentation and approvals
  • Assist Project Manager in formulating and maintaining construction schedule

Knowledge Required

  • Deep knowledge of general building, new construction, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing trades
  • Ability to read project plans, blueprints, specifications, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel), smart phone applications, and familiar with ProCore or similar construction software

Experience Required

  • Leadership and motivational skills and experience
  • Managing through difficult situations
  • Proven track record for meeting commitments on time

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of new construction experience required
  • 2+ years as Field Superintendent preferred
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Ability to travel extensively and spend prolonged periods in a vehicle
  • Must be self-motivated with a strong focus on productivity, detail, and safety.
  • Willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout workday
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well with others in a collaborative team environment

Work Environment

Location: Anaheim Office-based with regular travel to project sites across California

Conditions: Exposure to industrial environments, including active construction zones, equipment operations, and varying weather conditions

Hours: Monday-Friday (8-10hr/day) - Flexible with time based on location
