RiverWest Properties, a rapidly growing Columbus-based real estate investment and development firm, is seeking a Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable for its multifaceted portfolio throughout central Ohio.

RiverWest was founded in 2017 and primarily owns and manages in four investment areas: (1) multifamily apartment communities, (2) RV camping resorts, (3) manufactured housing communities, and (4) commercial real estate development projects. This role would focus on Leasing throughout our multifamily apartment communities.

About The Role

The Senior Accounts Payable Analyst manages the accounts payable functions and serves as the primary contact for billing matters both internally and externally. This role is responsible for accuracy of the AP subledgers and is responsible for their accuracy in addition to supporting and reviewing the output of the staff accountant with processing invoices and ensuring all vendors are paid timely. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage, support, and lead the remote accounts payable accountant. Be an active team leader invested in the staff accountant’s professional development.
  • Serve as an expert in the company’s general ledger accounts and their use. Serve as the go-to person for questions and clarifications on general ledger account usage for all properties.
  • Verify expenses have been accurately entered into accounting systems free from errors. Manage work-flow approvals.
  • Reconcile credit card expense reports received from card users and verify the accuracy of the reporting in the accounting software.
  • Develop KPIs and identify trends to support business operations with analytical data.
  • Partner with Treasury Accountant to develop, refine, and update cash forecasting model for all properties.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding outstanding invoices, payments, etc.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure output is accurate and provide feedback where needed.
  • Lead year end 1099 tax reporting.
  • Maintain and improve the efficiency of the accounts payable process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of accounts payable experience. Real estate experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
  • Experience with expense reporting applications, including credit card reporting. Accounting software experience in Yardi and Appfolio a plus.
  • Ability to solve problems, carry projects through to completion, work independently, and lead a direct report.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and apply knowledge to current fact patterns.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with individuals who may have limited financial background/experience.

This role will report to the company’s Controller and have exposure to the rest of the company’s leadership
