About This Opportunity

Global Finishing Solutions is seeking a proactive, positive, and driven Sr. Applications Engineer. The Sr. Applications Engineer is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating estimating and quoting functions as well as facilitating a group of employees responsible for preparing project bid packages. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working cross functionally at all levels within an organization, a proven history of project execution, as well as sound engineering knowledge.

What You Will Do

• Supervise and prioritize the preparation of project estimates and written quotations to ensure that sales expectations and bid schedules are met.
• Provide technical and administrative guidance as needed within the Applications Engineering department and ensure technical coordination processes between various support departments (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Etc.) are in place and utilized when required.
• Develop, implement, and keep current documented design standards and estimating procedures to include material and labor estimating guidelines
• Manage the processes and products and ensure that the requirements of the Sales Department and GFS customers are being met.
• Ensure overall conceptual design approaches meet client specifications and Sales standards
• Manage Aerospace and Government projects successfully throughout the pre-sale process while maintaining contractual adherence. Display proficiency with government specifications full adherence to terms and conditions of specification documents. Manages the presale application process for maximum profitability; this includes soliciting pricing from two or more vendors for all buy outs, sub-contractors and install crews, propose alternative options that could recognize cost savings and maximize profits such as outsourcing, build vs. buy, analysis of installation options and contractual issues, etc.
• Provide individual training to those that need additional support on how to use tools effectively and efficiently within the applications group.
• Obtain and display technical proficiency on the basics of HVAC systems to include boilers and chillers.
• Obtain and display the technical skillset that help define and drive the scope adherence to Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Programming/Controls and Mechanical Design aspects of projects.
• Display the priority of Continuous improvement throughout the department and interdepartmentally with other departments with the intention of exceptional internal/external customer service and improved profitability through GFS
• Will be responsible for crossing departmental lines to support custom products being designed and quoted through the Industrial Business Unit.

What You Have to Offer

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in construction or manufacturing industry
• Experience and understanding of construction documents
• Ability to grasp and apply concepts related to occupational discipline
• Ability to perform functions in a timely manner with a high level of quality
• Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD
• Demonstrated history of strong technical communication skills and team collaboration
