JOB TITLE

Teacher's Aide

We’re looking to hire an experienced professional to join our team as a Teacher's Aide at Kids Rock! Child Care Center in Luverne, MN.

Under the general and technical supervision of the Lead Teacher & Executive Director, the Teacher's Aide provides a stimulating, safe and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills.

As Teacher's Aide, you will:

• Assists and supervises children during all activities in the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips, monitoring child safety at all times.

• Assists with diapering, toileting, dressing, handwashing, and feeding children as needed.
• Guides and assists children with age-appropriate activities, including play, learning, and social interaction. Promote communication, play, and socialization between children in the classroom.
• Assists in preparing and setting up the classroom environment for learning and play.
• Assists with implementation of lesson plans and classroom routines, including classroom preparation, photocopying, making resources, and distributing materials.
• Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks and meals. Prepare the eating area for breakfast, lunch and snack. Participate in all meals. Clean up following all meals and snacks.
• Observes children's behavior and communicates any concerns or observations to the supervising teacher.
• Assists Lead Teacher with classroom paperwork: for example, daily reports, accident reports and attendance records.
• Maintains a clean and organized classroom, including sanitizing surfaces and toys.
• Ensure that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of classrooms and other areas within the center are appropriately maintained, in accordance with Kids Rock! cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
• Follows all Kids Rock! policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented to keep children healthy and safe.
• Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
• Reports any problems to the Lead Teacher.
• Reports to the Director when not able to attend work.
• Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday. This position works with children for long periods of time and involves standing, sitting, kneeling, bending and getting up/down from the floor.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and Kids Rock! events.
• Attend required meetings and training as needed or required to enhance expertise and professionalism at Kids Rock! and to fulfill job requirements.
• Maintain open and effective communication with the supervising teacher and other staff members.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Pay $16-18 Per Hour DOQ

HOURS

Full-time, Part-time

-Monday - Friday

-10 hour shifts 4 days a week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 16 years of age

  • An aide who is under 18 years old must be directly supervised by a teacher or assistant teacher at all times except when the aide is assisting with the supervision of sleeping children or assisting children with washing, toileting, and diapering as per MN Statute 9503.0034
• Have or be able to obtain First Aid / Pediatric and Adult CPR certification
• Prior experience working with young children preferred, but not required
• Must pass MN DHS Background Study

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

• Dependability & Flexibility: Maintain reliable, regular attendance with a flexible schedule, including availability for early mornings and later evenings as needed.

• Childcare Knowledge: Child safety, supervision, and behavior management; classroom management and cleaning protocols; understanding of health and safety policies and procedures; familiarity with required documentation (e.g., reports, attendance, accident logs).
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Effective interaction with children, staff, and parents; clear verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate with lead teachers and follow directions.
• Organizational & Problem-Solving Skills: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment; managing crises and behavior issues effectively; handling administrative tasks (e.g., paperwork, scheduling).
• Cultural Competence: Positively engage with diverse cultures, traditions, lifestyles, languages, and values of children, families, and the community.
• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of client information with integrity.
• Compliance & Professional Development: Meet state and local licensing requirements; completing required training (e.g., Pediatric First Aid, CPR); maintaining professionalism and cultural competence in interactions. Maintain neat, clean appearance within the structure of the dress code.
