Vice President, Financial Services

Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day Shift

Onsite | Knoxville, Tennessee

Covenant Medical Group is Covenant Health’s employed and managed medical practice organization, with more than 300 top Physicians and providers spanning the continuum of care in 20 cities throughout East Tennessee. Specialties include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine and urology.

Position Summary:

As VP Financial Services, this individual plans, organizes, and directs the strategic planning and fiscal resources of Covenant Medical Group. Duties also include direct supervision of General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Budgeting and Reimbursement. The VP Financial Services reports to the facilities’ President & CAO for day-to-day responsibilities and the EVP Finance for corporate responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all financial resources.
  • Manages human resources and achievement of strategic objectives for the Financial Services Division.
  • Cooperates with medical staff and other system members to promote high quality service to patients.
  • Facilitates a process of effectively providing for capital needs.
  • Prepares and effects timely filling of federal, state, third party, and other financial reports as required.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of economic changes, and new trends in healthcare and assesses their potential impact on operations. Educates other members of the Senior Leadership team.
  • Leads the organization by visualizing the future and guiding us there financially. Focuses on the future and utilizes appropriate resources to teach the organization financial lessons learned from the past.
  • Provides budget planning guidelines; presents budget and performance goals to corporate office.
  • Coordinates with Risk Management to provide for current and adequate insurance protection to protect organizations from liability and other losses.
  • Supervises investigation and analysis of costs, charges, rates, etc., and makes appropriate recommendations to permit income to support organizational activities.
  • Prepares revisions to rate structure.
  • Serves as active member of the Senior Leadership Team of Covenant Medical Group.
  • Actively promotes Covenant Health’s desired culture/environment.
  • Maintains full knowledge of business results by Product Line and makes strategic recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team based upon projected future results.
  • Establishes and maintains accounting systems to meet organizational needs, and periodically provides complete and accurate reports of assets, liability, and financial transactions.
  • Evaluates the information systems needs to support financial services and coordinates and assists in new applications development.
  • Reviews and analyzes monthly financial statements and operating reports with the President & CAO and Vice Presidents and makes recommendations concerning methods of cost containment and revenue enhancement.
  • Coordinates financial services functions with other hospital departments and other affiliated companies and act as a resource for other departments in matters of record keeping and financial information processing.
  • Serves as liaison to corporate Information Services departments.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Masters degree in Business Administration/Accounting or CPA.

Minimum Experience:

Seven (7) years experience. Experience in a large, multi-entity hospital setting preferred.
