Responsibilities
The Director of Cardiology Service Lines is responsible for the oversight and direction of the KSC Cardiology Service Lines to include, personnel management, in-clinic operations, outpatient Cardiology Diagnostics performed in the KSC Cardiology Laboratory sites, hospital call groups, professional services, and conduct financial analyses relative to performance of those areas. This position will collaborate with Physician Leadership, VP Cardiology & Imaging, Sr. VP of Health Care Service Lines and KSC Ambulatory Leadership to set and evaluate viability of provider location rotations and hospital assignments, as well as leverage technology and Process Improvement principles and change management tools to achieve maximum efficiencies and minimize costs.
Salary Range: $136,122 - $168,137 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)
Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business domain
OR
7 years equivalent work experience
Preferred: Master’s degree in healthcare related disciple, business or management
Experience
Required: 7 years’ cardiology practice management experience
Or
7 years non-cardiology practice in an alternative medical specialty with hospital responsibilities
Scope:
Service Line Operations:
Directs Managers and their subordinate teams relative to Clinic standards, policies, and procedures. Ensures staffing of subordinate teams meets the clinical demand while being economically efficient for each practice within each clinic site. Utilizes analytical skills and industry sector knowledge to realign resources and substantiate the need for more and new providers and diagnostic resources. Submits management reports & analyses, explains variance from standards/targets and presents quarterly reports PRN. Monitors key indicators and institutes corrective actions when necessary; produces data for review by the Vice President, Sr.
Vice President and or other members of the Executive Team and or Physician Leadership Team. Fosters Physician/staff relations through regular and effective communications, including joint planning and problem-solving with the departmental physician leadership. Coordinates action plans with other departments as applicable.
Performance Improvement:
Utilizes principles of performance improvement and tools provided by the KSC Quality Department to evaluate and improve current performance levels in areas of responsibility. Participates in Clinic-wide performance improvement initiatives as applicable. Performs and communicates follow-up to patient complaints that exceed the scope of department managers.
Business Practices:
Responsible for the administration of business aspects of KSC Cardiology and Cardiology Laboratory. Collaborates with corporate marketing services to develop and implement marketing strategies for these departments. Development & management of hospital relationships to include charge capture for professional services and data exchange.
Finance:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring capital, FTE, and operational budgets consistent with departmental and organizational strategic direction and adherence to budget targets. Review operating statements to identify variances and develop action plans to improve financial performance. Contributes to pro forma development for new services and critical financial review of existing service lines.
Human Resources:
Maintains a mentoring/development plan for subordinates. Collaborates with the Human Resources Department to develop and monitor the effectiveness of employee retention and recruitment policies and strategies.
Supports managers in submitting employee performance appraisals that accurately reflect the
performance and development of subordinates in a timely manner.
Technical Management :
Participates in the negotiation of major service contracts and equipment procurement.
Directs the planning of cardiology services in all new clinic facilities, including equipment deployment and evaluation of personnel needs.
License(s)
Preferred: Current or prior certification in nursing
OR
Cardiology diagnostic modality Certification in Project Management
Special Skills
Required: Excellent computer skills to generate reports and presentations when necessary.
Strong Change Management, Project Management, and Human Resource skills, Billing and experienced in sub specialization especially in Electrophysiology.
Other
Required: Demonstrated critical thinking skills, competency with process improvement activities, analyses, corrective action planning, and implementation.
