Role Overview


Sodexo currently has a job for a seasoned Facilities and Operations Manager to support our operations at Frank Tobey Jones, in Tacoma, WA . Our client strives to promote the enjoyment of living life in our uniquely elegant senior community with a variety of housing options for seniors, top of the line facilities and unmatched services in the area. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of all aspects of building services, project management and sustainability. The facilities operation consists of building maintenance, including housekeeping, maintenance, janitorial services, Environmental Services (EVS), groundskeeping, security, and transportation. custodial and grounds services. Additional responsibilities include creating, monitoring and maintaining budgets, human resources, inventory control, staff training and safety. Candidate needs to be able to manage utilities.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with client stakeholders at all levels as well as internal staff. The ability to work with others and develop collaborative teams is essential to success. The right candidate will have working knowledge of all aspects of building services including maintenance, custodial and grounds. Previous apartment or University facilities experience is very desirable. Seeking strong technical skills in all trades, especially HVAC.

What You'll Do


Key Duties:

  • Manage one other manager; typically in account with smaller volume and FTE count; Manage by walking around; Staffs, trains, and is responsible for employee development
  • Technical client interface
  • Payroll and time mgmt. of frontline staff
  • Oversees and coordinates projects
  • Manages work orders/CMMS
  • Manages mechanicals (i.e. HVAC)
  • Manages financials
  • Responsible for client relations/engagement
  • Manages QA and Safety

  • have a background in facilities management from a recognized company or group
  • strong working knowledge of PM scheduling and execution
  • hands on experience and not afraid to help out the team
  • experience in an apartment or dormitory facility would be beneficial
  • experience in a seniors or hospital setting would be beneficial
  • strong communications skills and the ability to drive vendor and contractor relations
  • attention to detail and a true compassion for the residents in the facility

Qualifications & Requirements


Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services
